Habitat:
Legend said that the Connemara pony descended from Spanish horses, rescued from the Armada when the ships wrecked on the rocky coast of Western Ireland in 1568.

In fact the Connemara’s ancestors lived in Ireland for thousands of years and it is Ireland's only native pony.

The
Connemara pony gallops, trots and walks like other horses. It has a good temperament, hardiness, staying power, intelligence, soundness, sure footedness, jumping ability, and is suitable for children or adults.

The Connemara pony kicks, bites, nips and bucks. Its kick is very dangerous and it could make you bleed severely.
Size/Life Span:
The Connemara pony grows in size from 13 hands to 15 hands high, with the average being about 14 hands. It is the largest pony breed.

Its covering coat is comes in colours like a dun in colouring but is now rare . The body of the Connemara pony is compact and deep, yet not bulky. It has legs which are short , clean and have an anklebone; the shoulders are rounded. The Connemara pony has a handsome head, the neck fairly lean and it has an abundant mane and tail.

Food:
It eats grass, carrots, apples, oats, oatmeal and hay.

The Connemara pony has live young in a sac. As the baby struggles to get free mother will support it . When it gets out it will take mouthfuls of air.
